Musing's of a Rejected Valentine

Another Valentine's Day has come and gone, and once again, I have no one but myself. But the difference between those who are happy, and those who are crying because they feel unloved, all comes down to one's perspective. Don't worry this isn't another sorrowful journal, in fact this is a bit of a pick-me-up in some respects. What some people don't get is that the holiday doesn't have to be one all about trying to get your secret crush to accept that paper Mache heart that is simple, but carrier's your very soul. As sweet as it is, will inevitably be rejected, and whiel you are there, in the room, your want-to-be-valentine will light it on fire and, in a sadistic ball of ash reject you and dance on the flames like a leprechaun.  Like your emotions, your Valentine has burned you to the ground, and accepted the box of chocolates from that douche named Cody.

But hey, don't get yourself down, he's going to get her pregger that night and they'll spend the rest of their days together, unhappy and in a trailer park, where their kids will drain the life out of them.

All sadistic, dark humor aside, this holiday, just like all the others doesn't have to be about a girl, and those three magic words we all want to hear; "Let's, get, nekked." It can be about family and friends. Sending those cards to your Mum and Dad to show them that you care, giving that extra phone call to your siblings to check up on them, then bull-shitting with a bud about what parts of woman (or hey, if your a lady, what parts of a man) make you go MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...... IF YA KNOW WHAT I MEEEEN.

Don't get hung up on the Valentines, and don't let the world get you down too much, remember that this whole holiday was designed to get you to buy shit anyways. To not participate is to not fuel the machine, to participate, is perhaps to make someone happy, flatter someone, or hey, just popping the question could make someone's day. Even to just a friend.

Sure, Valentine's Day is over and done for now, but there is always next year. For now, this is the Shadow Monger, raising a glass of Scotch to you, my fellow rejects and isolates, the ugly, the unparticipating, and the rebels, to keep being what you are, and never let the world beat you down.
